This time, we have selected 5 Christmas cakes that you should definitely reserve from five hotels: Palace Hotel Tokyo, Okura Tokyo, Andaz Tokyo, Grand Hyatt Tokyo, and Shangri-La Tokyo.

 

Since many of the cakes are available in limited quantities, we recommend making your reservation as early as possible.

1. Palace Hotel Tokyo




The Palace Hotel Tokyo was awarded the highest rating of 3 keys in the Michelin Guide Hotel Selection, which selects the world's most noteworthy and superior hotels. The hotel is directly connected to Otemachi Station via an underground passageway, and many of the rooms have balconies, which is rare for a hotel in Tokyo, and overlook the outer gardens surrounded by greenery.

 

Every year, a lineup of impressive creations is lined up, but in 2024, a total of nine types of Christmas cakes will be sold at the pastry shop "Sweets & Deli." The chefs travel to the local area to select ingredients and the designs are chic and modern.

The cake, shaped like a knitted hat, is made of rich caramel mousse, apple compote, caramelized pecan nuts, and a layer of chocolate sponge. The whole is covered in chocolate cream and topped with coconut and white chocolate. The bitter caramel and the crunchy apples combine to create a gentle texture and flavor, and the cake melts in your mouth very lightly.

The chef chose "Tochiaika" strawberries from Kamitsuga, Tochigi Prefecture, for their large size, sweetness and texture, and blended two types of cream with vanilla beans to create this shortcake. The carefully selected flavor of Okinawan brown sugar and French AOP butter is just as the chef calls it, the ideal shortcake, with its refined sweetness and light texture.

2. The Okura Tokyo





Located in Toranomon, Tokyo, the Okura Tokyo is a historic and prestigious hotel founded in 1962. It is globally acclaimed as the hotel of choice for international dignitaries. It reopened in 2019 and was reborn from "Hotel Okura Tokyo" to "Okura Tokyo", but the long-standing spirit of the hotel, such as its pursuit of style and taste known as Okura Limes, remains unchanged.

 

There are five types of Christmas cakes for 2024, including two new ones. All of them have elegant and adorable designs, and the harmony of the flavors of the carefully selected ingredients is truly impressive.

The delicate paste covering the surface is made with plenty of steamed chestnuts from France, giving the Mont Blanc a truly French aroma. Beneath the less-sweet paste lies chestnut paste with a hint of rum, French chestnut glacés, creme brulée made with fir honey, and chestnut bavarois. This Mont Blanc is a new sensation, with a variety of textures and flavors to enjoy, including crispy hazelnut meringue and high-cocoa chocolate cream from France.

Chef's Speciality ~La Fusion~

This popular cake sold out quickly last year. This specialty cake is based on a soft chocolate made from low-temperature roasted rare Venezuelan Criollo cacao. Inside is a creme brulée made with matcha from Marutoshi Yoshida Meichaen. The sponge cake is dipped in gyokuro roasted green tea syrup and sandwiched between fragrant and sour Kito yuzu confiture from Tokushima, giving it a refreshing yet deep flavor.

La Rose

This cake is made with a generous amount of rose champagne from the French luxury champagne house Billecart-Salmon. It is made up of a jelly made with rose champagne and grapefruit juice using the cocktail technique of "milk wash," layered with grapefruit cream, lime confit, and hotel-made sponge cake flavored with yogurt, and is wrapped in a light mousse that is softly infused with the rich aroma of rose champagne.
