Creating beautiful light in a new space and marking a new time

The memory of a place is created as a collection of various elements. The Okura lobby has welcomed many people since its opening in 1962. The comfort of the space, accompanied by its gentle light, has been deeply engraved in the hearts of those who visit. A truly Japanese space. At The Okura Tokyo, you can enjoy that atmosphere once again at the Okura Prestige Tower. The design of the main building lobby, designed by architect Yoshiro Taniguchi, required careful research and documentation.

The Okura Lantern provides light. This lighting fixture is inspired by the faceted bead shape of polyhedron-cut crystal, which was a decorative bead used in necklaces during the Kofun period. It consists of five polyhedrons made by combining ten pentagons.

The pentagonal shape of the lantern brings a sense of rhythm to the spacious space, enriching the lobby's expression. The sense of rhythm in the shape, which is different from the straight lines that create a sense of stability, is inseparable from the ancient Japanese form. The form of the lantern has been imbued with a delicate awareness of the swaying nature.

The Okura Heritage Wing will also feature the ``Ranka'' lighting that was featured on the wall of the famous bar ``Orchid Bar.'' This is an elegant orchid flower created in blown glass by Toshichi Iwata, one of Japan's leading glass artists.
