WABARA is a rose that has a gentle expression and supple strength, which is not found in the gorgeous roses produced in Europe and America. In 12 episodes, we will introduce the charm of WABARA, which is grown with care at Rose Farm Cage, a rose farm in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, and Rose Farm Cage's efforts to coexist with nature.
If you gently hold freshly picked roses, you can create a beautiful bouquet. The way the roses look a little heavy and sleepy, with their heads tilted to the side, conveys an indescribably gentle atmosphere.
WABARA refers to the original rose created by Keiji Kunieda. He started breeding roses in 1981, and it was 26 years later in 2007 that he was able to express his own roses. That's when we named it WABARA. WABARA's concept is "creating living roses." Soft petals, graceful stems and leaves, and a gentle neutral flower color. It is also characterized by a toughness that cannot be imagined from its delicate appearance.
What exactly is ``my own rose''? It was in Europe about 40 years ago that Kunieda first encountered the technology of breeding new roses. At first, they were breeding cut flower varieties that were commonly sold, but when they wanted to express their own unique worldview, they started to mix old varieties. And the rose that I found was WABARA. Because roses are grown in an environment that is as close to nature as possible, they do not disturb the harmony of any space or flower type, just like flowers that bloom in the wild. Today at Kunieda's farm, WABARA, which is both strong and gentle, is blooming.
