WABARA is a rose that has a gentle expression and supple strength, which is not found in the gorgeous roses produced in Europe and America. In 12 episodes, we will introduce the charm of WABARA, which is grown with care at Rose Farm Cage, a rose farm in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, and Rose Farm Cage's efforts to coexist with nature.

Roses grow healthily in a group of greenhouses built on the shores of Lake Biwa. The roses made here are not "products." This farm embodies the philosophy of ``creating living roses.''

Approximately 30 minutes from Kyoto Station on the JR Tokaido Sanyo Main Line. Rose Farm Cage is located in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, which is surrounded by Lake Biwa and the mountains surrounding Lake Biwa. The farm, which was established in 2003 and established in 2017 on the shores of Lake Biwa, is a magnificent four-hectare farm. While walking in the field, I found a rose entangled in a spider's thread. My heart is touched by the sight of a single flower as it stands, with the smell of sunlight and earth, and the gentle breeze from Lake Biwa. Let's go inside the greenhouse. There, too, were cute little roses blooming with a graceful appearance.

The roses grown at this farm are different from the sharp, sophisticated roses you find in refrigerated cases in urban flower shops. Keiji Kunieda, the rose author of Rose Farm Cage, aims to create roses that look like flowers blooming in the field. WABARA, grown by Keiji Kunieda, is a rose that blooms in the wild, like a single flower tangled in a spider's thread.

The roses made by Keiji Kunieda are not products. As Kunieda says, roses are originally flowers that bloom in the wild. Plants that grow in mountains and forests circulate within their ecosystems and grow in harmony and symbiosis with their surroundings. Creating a cultivation environment that is as close to natural fields and mountains as possible by combining water, soil, air, and microorganisms without overdoing it. The roses at Rose Farm Cage are grown with this in mind.
