What is the traditional Japanese color "Meicha"?
Meicha is a slightly dark yellowish brown that is expressed in greenish brown and deep yellowish brown. Originally written as "Kombucha" to refer to the color of kelp seaweed, the character "Meicha" was added to imply a "seductive, alluring color." It is known as one of the various browns and grays that were popular in the Edo period, known as "Forty is Tea, One Hundred Grays," and has been popular as a color with a sophisticated and stylish feel.
