It is found mainly in the area around Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, and although it is not commonly seen nationwide, it is well known in the Tokai region.



It is said to come from the place name "Kani," and many people outside the Tokai region do not know how to read it.



Depending on the region and family lineage, it may be read as "Kaji," "Kako," "Kago," or "Kaniji." Historically, it is known as the name of the Sengoku period warlord Kani Saizō, and is also associated with a family of great military prowess.
