What is the traditional Japanese color "celadon color"?
Celadon color is a clear light green color like the skin of celadon. Celadon, a type of porcelain with a blue-green glaze, began to be produced in earnest in China from the end of the Western Han Dynasty to the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty around the time of Christ. It was introduced to Japan through trade between Japan and the Song Dynasty, and appears in literature from the Heian period as "hishoku" or "ao-ji." It is also written as "ao-ji" in "The Tale of Genji," and it was only after the Meiji period that it came to be called "sei-ji."
