Can you read it? The rare surname "Kakizaki" is not pronounced "Sasaki"

The Kakizaki name has its roots in what is now Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, and is particularly common in Yamagata Prefecture today.

During the Sengoku period, the father-son duo Kakizaki Kageie and Haruie served as senior vassals of Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo, but Kageie was suspected of conspiring with Oda Nobunaga and sentenced to death.

Later, following the sudden death of Uesugi Kenshin, a struggle for succession between Uesugi Kagekatsu and Uesugi Kagetora broke out, and the Kakizaki family was divided into two factions. It was Noriie (known as Senkumamaru at the time), who was supported by a faction supporting Kagekatsu, who sided with the victorious Kagekatsu.

The Kakizaki family was allowed to be succeeded by Noriie, and during the Edo period he became a samurai of the Yonezawa Domain, which is now Yamagata Prefecture. As a result, this name is now commonly seen in the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions.
