What is the traditional Japanese color "Shiroren"?
Shiraneiro refers to the white of white-degummed silk. Shiraneiro is a method of degumming raw silk to remove the yellowness, resulting in the lustrous pure white color of silk. One of the oldest color names in Japan is said to be "white," but since many of these colors still retained the color of the fabric, pure white white silk was considered special.

In the "Courtesy of Clothing," white was considered to be the color that symbolized holiness. It represented innocence and purity, and was thought to have a special presence as a sacred color related to Shinto rituals. "Shironeri" is pronounced "shironeri."
