The Takeda clan is the head family of the Kai Genji clan, which was founded by Minamoto no Yoshimitsu and is a branch of the Kawachi Genji clan, a branch of the Seiwa Genji clan. The Ushioku family is said to be a branch of the Takeda clan, and the family has served the Takeda clan for generations. It is said that during the Edo period, the family name was a hatamoto (main retainer of the Tokugawa shogunate) who supported the Tokugawa shogunate.
