Learn about Japan's traditional colors

2023.4.21

Can you read? Japan's traditional color ``Kamakoei'' is pronounced as ``Hokoei'' in Chinese medicine.

From March to May, wild flowers are seen on the lawns of parks and along roadsides in urban areas where cars are often seen, heralding the arrival of spring. It is a perennial plant of the Asteraceae family, and the way it blooms with its roots spread out gives a sense of health and strength.

The dried leaves before flowering are used as Chinese medicine, and in that case they are called hokoei.

Kamuko Eiiro = Dandelion color
The English name is Dandelion. It means lion's mane.
