Onoe Kikunojo III, the fourth head of the Onoe school, hosts the Onoe-kai

The fourth head of the Onoe school, Onoe Kikunojo III, will host the Onoe Kai, a gathering of Onoe-ryu dancers, at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theater in Tokyo on Friday, January 30th and Saturday, January 31st, 2026.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the succession of the fourth head of the Onoe school, Onoe Kikunojo III, and marks the school's 15th anniversary. This performance will showcase the fruits of their hard work, and will feature a lineup of Onoe school masters and renowned geisha from the entertainment districts of Pontocho and Shimbashi in Kyoto. Special appearances will include Onoe Kikugorou, the eighth head of the Onoe school and successor to the name, Onoe Matsuya and Onoe Ukon, members of the Otowaya school, and Matsumoto Koshiro 10. Onoe Bokusetsu, the third head of the Onoe school, and his sister, Onoe Murasaki, will also add color to the stage.

In addition, there will be three wonderful performances over two days, including the debut of Onoe Kikunosuke's eldest daughter, Hatori Itoko (14 years old), also known as Onoe Tsubaki, and his eldest son, Hatori Yoshito (9 years old), also known as Onoe Kotoya.
