"Hokusai's Botanical Illustrated Book" is currently being held at the Hokusaikan in Obuse, Shinshu, where Katsushika Hokusai stayed in his later years. The exhibition will run until Sunday, November 11th.

This exhibition selected works depicting plants from the collection of the Hokusai Museum and compiled their types and characteristics in the form of an illustrated encyclopedia. Hokusai depicted a great number of plants, including not only plants and flowers but also vegetables and fruits, totaling more than 100 types.

In addition, the collection also includes leaves of all shapes, including maple, ginkgo, balsam, and pine leaves, showing just how interested Hokusai was in leaves of all different shapes.
