The Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Series, which highlights traditional Japanese craftsmanship and promotes Japanese beauty through mechanical wristwatches, has released a new watch with an Arita porcelain dial that perfectly captures the transparency and beautiful shadows unique to white porcelain.
Arita craftsmen have been passing down and refining their skills for over 400 years. Not content with traditional casting techniques, they continue to strive for greater heights. Their outstanding skills are reflected in the complex yet gentle height differences achieved in a dial that is only about 1mm thick.
Fine patterns are applied to the inside of the index and the subdial at 6 o'clock is bowl-shaped, then glaze is applied on top and fired, creating a delicate and smooth shadow effect within the small world of just 31.6mm in diameter.
The case, with its elegant yet sharp design, accentuates the lustrous look that is unique to the Arita porcelain dial. In addition, the tips of the minute and second hands are bent toward the dial to bring them closer to the scale and improve visibility, and dual-curved sapphire glass is used to minimize the thickness of the case, making this a watch that is both functional and comfortable to wear.
Seiko Presage, which inherits the more than 100-year tradition of Seiko watchmaking, and Arita ware, which fascinates the world with its dignified beauty. A watch that combines the technology and charm of both is sure to bring the wearer unparalleled confidence.
