Believing that "plain, simple, useful" design would improve the quality of life, Sir Conran was a driving force behind change through design, and began his career as a textile and tableware designer shortly after the war.

He then founded Habita and The Conran Shop, which sell household goods based on the concept of proposing lifestyles. Even after achieving such great success that it revolutionized the global design market, he continued to work in many fields, including urban redevelopment, restaurant business, and projects that combine architecture and design. Throughout his life, he continued to convey the role and significance of design in society.
