The popular workshop "Love Letter Project '24" by calligrapher and artist Shishu, who created the title calligraphy for the NHK Taiga drama "Ryomaden" and continues to spread the new appeal of calligraphy to the world, will be held at "The Garden Room" in Yebisu Garden Place on Saturday, October 2024, 10.

The Love Letter Project, which started 18 years ago, is a project with the desire to convey the love that many people have given to the next person, and to remind people that they are not alone and that they are needed by someone. By reconsidering the meaning of "love," we write love letters to convey love to important people.
The workshop is divided into two parts, morning and afternoon. The morning is a master class where Shishu will teach new points for improvement from his unique perspective. The afternoon is a general class that beginners and children can easily participate in.
In the master class, you will improve your physical abilities by shifting the center of gravity of your head, and use breathing techniques to create beautiful lines. This is a top-level workshop for those who want to learn new techniques, such as how to focus and turn on your motivation switch.
In the general class, students first learn how to use the brush freely, and are guided to be able to write about 20 different expressive styles, such as "warm characters," "strong lines," and "smiling characters." In the second half, students are guided to express their thoughts freely in calligraphy, from a perspective not taught in regular calligraphy classes. After looking into their own hearts and reflecting, students put their feelings into words while thinking of their loved ones, creating "letters that convey their feelings."

A letter written by hand contains the warmth of the writer and proof of their life. Why not take part in this project and have a new experience through calligraphy?
*Two Premium Japan readers will be invited to join the general class of Love Letter Project '24.
